Polishfest 2009 – Lincoln Avenue (Milwaukee, WI) Exhibit
I had enjoyed myself this year at Polishfest 2009 more so than any other year. Volunteering at the PGSA Geneaolgy Booth was a great opportunity to meet fellow genealogy enthuaiasts and try to help others. I met some good people this year.
I had the opportunity of meeting and volunteering with Karen Duffy, who has been working on the Kuryer Polski obituary and marriage indexing project. The Kuryer Polski was Milwaukee’s biggest and longest running Polish newspaper. More information about Karen’s project can be found at either the PGSA website or the Links to the Past website. I’d like to give a BIG THANKS! to Karen for taking on this large project. I have used this index in the past and will continue to do so…
Below are some pictures that I took inside the Lincoln Avenue exhibit. The first picture below is of an old picture of the Kosciusko Park Monument. A better picture of the monument can be found by clicking this link.

The next picture is a display that provide more information and history about Tadeusz Kościuszko and the monument that was built in his honor. The Polanki Polish Women’s Club of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, U.S.A are excepting donations to help restore this great Polish and American landmark.
