Anna Kobs nee Szlak Obituary July 9, 1929
Hello,
Today, I have received an obituary that I ordered from the Milwaukee Public Library’s Ditto copying service. I found the obituary listed on the Kuryer Polski Indexing Project Search located on the PGSA website. I had taken a random shot on this obituary of Anna Kobs. I was pleasantly surprised at the results….The picture of the obituary is below and is followed by my translation attempt.
Citation: Obituary – Anna Kobs, Kuryer Polski, 9 July 1929
All relatives and friends regretfully announce the sad news that our beloved wife, mother, daughter, and sister has passed away.
The late Anna Kobs nee Szlak parted from this world on Saturday evening, July 6th, at 6 o’clock after a long and serious illness bearing Holy Sacraments. Anna survived for 26 years, 9 months, and 4 days. Born on October 2, 1902 in Milwaukee. Leaving a husband, 1 son, parents, 2 brothers, and 2 sisters. Burial of the deceased will take place on Wednesday morning at 8:30 from the house of mourning, address number 1383 Eighth Avenue, to the church of St. John Kanty, then to the cemetery of St. Adalbert.
All relatives and friends are invited on this sad occasion.
Immersed in grief:
Ludwig (Louis) Kobs, husband; Dyonizy (Dennis) son; Karol and Marta Szlak, parents; Stanisław and Edmund Szlak, brothers; Helena Grochowska and Ewelina Szlak, sisters; Franciszek (Frank) and Weronika (Veroncia) Kobs, parent-in-laws.
(Deceased belonged to Royal Neighbors, No. 4239).
Anna Szlak was my great grandfather’s, Louis Kobs, first wife. As funny as this sounds….I never knew the name of my great-grandfather’s first wife. I knew that she passed away from cancer and left Louis with a son named Dennis. Louis went on to marry his second wife, Wanda Krzymianowska, a few years later….
Best Regards,
Al
