The Late 1600’s….Koscierzyna P2- Project: My Kashubian Roots Part 1

I’ll continue walking through the Kościeryna Parish records for the remainder of the 1600’s. The parish records that I’ll utilize are births (1670-1693) and marriages (1668-1697). The Stężyca Parish records cover births (1691-1700), but I didn’t find a Wierzba baptism. So, I will focus on the Kościerzyna Parish records.

In 1672, the next Wierzba marriage record can be found. On the 8th of November, 1672, Stanisław Daleki and Jadwiga Wierzba were married. Jadwiga is listed as being from Owśnice. The couple would have the following children between 1672-1693 in Owśnice:

1673: Paweł Daleki
1675: Adam Daleki

Jadwiga Wierzba is extremely interesting. She brings a number of questions to the equation. Was she Michał Wierzba’s wife? Did Michał pass away between 1670-1672? Or is Jadwiga the daughter of Michał and Agneta (Michał’s first wife) that was possibly born prior to arrival in Korne? Possibly a sister to Michał? Or is Jadwiga a daughter of a completely different Wierzba family living in Owśnice? So many open questions….Hopefully, more records from this time frame will become available. Only time will tell.
