Read it in the Newspapers – Marriage of Walter Glodowski and Agnes Wierzba (1931)
Hello,
I would like to add to my new series of posts called “Read it in the Newspapers”. I will try to post one transcribed article, taken from a newspaper and about my ancestors, every week. The article below is the wedding announcement of my Grand Aunt Agnes Wierzba, from the Stevens Point Daily Journal.
Announcement is made of the marriage of Miss Agnes Wisba [should be Wierzba], daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Wisba [should be Wierzba] of the town of Stockton, and Walter Glodowski of the town of Sharon, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Glodowski of Amherst Junction vicinity. The ceremony was performed Tuesday morning, September 8, at the Sacred Heart church at Polonia by Rev Leo Jankowski.
The bride wore a gown of white satin and a veil and carried a bouquet of white roses and ferns. Her attendants were her sister, Miss Susan Wisba [should be Wierzba], the grooms sister, Miss Susan Glodowski, and Miss Genevieve Milanowski. They wore gowns of peach, pink, and orchid respectively with long white kid gloves, black velvet hats and black satin slippers, and they carried bouquets of roses and asters harmonizing with their costumes, Esther Gilmeister and Maria Pliska, the flower girls, wore green satin and carried baskets of pink
and white roses. Ambrose Glodowski, Leo Wisba [should be Wierzba], and Stanley Ackendorf [should be Eckendorf] attended the groom.
Seventy-five families were entertained at a reception at the Wisba [should be Wierzba] home during the day. Crepe paper streamers and white wedding bells decorated the rooms. Out of-town guests included Mr. and Mrs. John Pogrzewenki [should be Pokrzewinski] and family, Mrs. Peter Treba, Mrs. Edwald Ostrowski, and Susan Glodowski, all from Milwaukee. The bride and groom will make their home on the groom’s farm.
