Parish Records – Project: My Kashubian Roots Part 1

I’d like to list out the parishes that I am researching and the available records for each parish. I am going to call my Kashubian Wierzba project: My Kashubian Roots Part 1. By no means will this project get completed in the near future. This is an on-going project that should evolve as more and more records and resources become available. I’m also calling this “Part 1”, because I have other families that can be traced back to the Kashubian area of Poland. There may be a “Part 2”, “Part 3”, “Part 4”, ….
In my last post called “Kashubian Connection Quest“, I listed a number of parishes that I will be researching for this project. All of the parishes center around the village of Korne. The map below gives an idea of the area. The red balloon signifies the village of Korne. The underlining in black represents the parishes that I will be mostly researching. The parishes are as follows: Kościerzyna, Lipusz, Parchowo, Sulęczyno, Stężyca, Wiele, Leśno (which is displayed with an underline, but without its name), Stara Kiszawa, and Sierakowice. These are parishes where there were more records found for Wierzbas than one or two.

Below are the parishes that I will be searching through, along with the records that are available for each, per the PTG website. The PTG website can be accessed by clicking the link associated with each parish.

The parish records listed above are a starting point. There are other records from certain parishes that may be available to enhance the BMD records.
As I move forward with posts, I’ll try to cover my research on a progressive approach. Gradually covering all areas and the records that indicate the presence of Wierzba families starting from 1656 and moving forward. I’ll also try to fill in additional posts that detail a specific parish if I can easily summarize my findings. Possibly even new Słownik Geograficzny translations for new villages that I come across.
