Marriage of Michal Tobiasz and Rozalia Nowak Re-Do (1885)
Hello,
After gaining some confidence in translating Parish records in Russian text, thanks to In Their Words Volume II: Russian by Jonathan D. Shea and William F. Hoffman, I wanted to try to translate the marriage record of my great-great grandparents again. Any errors in this translation are my own.
Zakrzewo, No. 21, 1885
This happened in the village of Straszewo on the 18th of October 1885, at 4 p.m. We declare that in the presence of witnesses – Jakob Matuesiak, age 48, and Józef S?, age 50, both farmers from Zakrzewo – a religious martial union was contracted on this day between:
Michał Tobiasz, age 22, single, who was born in the village of Biesiekierz and parish of Koneck, and resides in the village of Zakrzewo, son of the deceased Ignacy Tobiasz who resided near Zakrzewo with his wife Zofia nee Karpik,
and Rozalia Swiercz, age 22, the widow of Tomasz Swiercz who died on May ?, 1884 in Zakrzewo. Rozalia was born in Zakrzewo and resides in Zakrzewo with her son and daughter. She is the daughter of the lawfully wedded couple: Matuesz Nowak and the late Marianna nee Pankowska.
This marriage was preceded by three readings of the banns in the local parish church on the 27th of September, the 4th of October, and the 11th of October of the current year. The newlyweds stated that no prenuptual agreement was made between them. The religious ceremony of marriage was performed by Reverend Skórczynski. This document, after being read aloud, was signed by us; those present state that they do not know how to write.
Reverend Benedykt Skórczynski, Pastor of the parish of Straszewo and the keeper of the vital records.
