Madness Monday: I Thought I had Spotted Ignacy Tobjasz Hiding in the Koneck Parish
Hello,
My Monday madness stems from the search for my g-g-g-grandfather Ignacy Tobjasz (also spelled as Tobiasz). Background information regarding my recent research can found in these previous posts:
Straszewo Parish Marriage Record
Koneck Parish Films: Getting Closer To Solving My Tobiasz Mystery
I have searched frontwards, backwards, and everywhere in between within the Koneck Parish Baptismal films, trying to find the baptismal record of Michał Tobiasz. Michał’s baptism should have happened around 1864 in Biesiekierz, but again no luck finding it…………
Even if I could not find Michał’s baptism, I was hoping to have found the baptisms of Ignacy’s other children (assuming that he had more than 1 child). Again, no records through 1868. After 1868, the Koneck parish records were completely written in Russian.
I have a few options…
1) Use the Russian spelling of the surname Tobiasz, from the Straszewo Parish records, and try to find the name on a baptismal record in the Koneck Parish films. This option will be difficult, but I will look for “key words” that should be in front of the father’s surname on the Russian language baptismal records.
2) Search the Koneck Parish marriage records for an Ignacy Tobjasz, dates ranging from 1850 – 1868. The marriage record should have happened before 1864.
3) Search the baptismal records of a different parish. The closest parish, to the southwest of Biesiekierz, is the Siniarzewo Parish (Andrzejczak Ancestors should be here too, more at: Wloclawek Archives Request)
Trying to find Ignacy Tobjasz has been maddening, but also fun….I enjoy the mystery…and will be ecstatic after the mystery is solved!
Best Regards,
Al
