Marriage of Jan Klocek and Franciszka Nadzieja (1823)

This is my translation of the Polish language marriage record of Jan Klocek and Franciszka Nadzieja, from the Broniewo Parish. Any errors are completely my own.

Szóstka, 1823, No. 2

This happened on February 4th, 1823. Before Us, the undersigned Registrar of Vital Records of the District of Broniewo, Radziejów County, Mazowieckie Department:

Jan Klocek, aged 24, single, a farmhand residing in Szóstka, the son of the deceased couple Jan and Marianna Klocek nee Niebója – who were farm owners residing in Kuczkowo, according to a certificate from the District Court.

Franciszka Nadzieja, aged 16, single, the daughter of Piotr and Jadwiga Nadzieja – who are farm owners residing in Szóstka, according to a certificate excerpted from the books of the Broniewo Parish.

The parties who appeared request that we proceed with the celebration of the wedding they have arranged between them, the announcement of which was published before the main doors of our District Court, that is: first on the 19th of January, and the second on the 26th of January, 1823, at 12 p.m. When we were not informed of any obstacles to the aforementioned marriage, and the parents here in attendance hereby consent, acquiescing to the aforementioned request, after reading to the parties and witnesses all the aforementioned papers and Section Six of the Civil Code regarding marriage, we asked the future husband and future wife whether they wished to join with each other in marital union, and when each of them responded separately that such is their wish, we proclaim in the name of the law that Jan Klocek and Franciszka Nadzieja are joined in the bonds of matrimony.

Of which we recorded this record in the presence of: Tomasz Frasuniak, aged 53; Sebastian Karcz, aged 45; and Jakub Patyk, aged 28; all are farm owners residing in Szóstka; along with Bartłomiej Raszka, aged 40, the uncle of the groom, a farm owner residing in Siniarzewo. This document was read aloud to the declarants and witnesses and signed by us who can write, because those appearing and the witnesses mentioned in this document cannot write.
