Jakub Kreft and Konstancja Klasa Family – Research Summary 1

I would like to update my summary of the records that I’ve found so far, for Jakub Kreft and Konstancja Klasa. All the Poland sourced records are from the Kaszuby area of Poland. The present day locations are in Gmina Parchowo, Gmina Sierakowice, Gmina Stężyca, Gmina Czarna Dąbrówka, and Gmina Sułęczyno, which are within Pomorskie Province. The information is derived from the listed records below.

The map is not 100% aligned, but it does give a general idea of where villages were located.

• The villages with “stars” are the locations that Józef Kreft and/or Konstancja Klasa lived.
• The villages with “diamonds” are the locations that the couple’s children lived.

Assumptions/Theories/Roadblocks:

• The villages of Zdunowice and Kłodno record entries can be found in the Parchowo and Sułęczyno Parishes.
• The Parchowo Parish baptismal records start after 1806.
• The Parchowo Parish marriage records start after 1808.
• The Parchowo Parish death records start after 1818.
• The Stężyca Parish baptismal records are missing from 1792-1805. The years between 1805-1819 have many faded pages that make the records almost illegible.
• There are a number of Kreft individuals in the Parchowo and Sułęczyno Parishes, with records that indicate a strong connection between families. Also, there are a number of Kreft families within the Stężyca, Sierakowice, and Chmielno Parishes.
• Jakub and Konstancja most likely had children within the Parchowo or Stężyca Parishes between 1794-1810.
• Kreft’s from the Parchowo Parish may be children of Jakub and Konstancja. Most, if not all Kreft’s from the Parchowo Parish are children of Jakub and Marianna Kreft. Jakub Kreft’s 1772/1773 West Prussian land register indicates that he had total of 8 children, 3 children born before 1760 (1 male and 2 female), and 5 children born between 1761-1772 (4 males and 1 female).
• Jakub Kreft was most likely the child of Jakub and Marianna Kreft from the Kłodno Parish.

Research Leads/Plans:

• Search for B-M-D records for the remaining family members.
• Piece together most likely family scenarios based on available B-M-D records of the Parchowo Parish.
