Anton Yach
Anton Yach of Hatley, a former resident of Portage county for 60 years, died at 6:10 o’clock Wednesday evening at St. Mary’s hospital at Wausau. He was in good health until Monday evening when he became suddenly ill. He was removed to the hospital Tuesday afternoon,
and his condition became rapidly worse. A son, Joseph Yach, Washington avenue, underwent a serious operation at Marshfield on Wednesday.
Mr. Yach was born in Poland and came to this country, directly to Portage county, when a boy of 13. The family located on a farm north of Ellis in the district known as Poland Corners in the town of Sharon. Mr. Yach’s marriage to Miss Verona Platta of Ellis took place in 1869. They lived on a farm, on the Bentley mill road in the town of Dewey until three years ago when they sold the farm and moved to Hatley.
He is survived by his widow, two sons, Joseph Yach of this city and Barney Yach of Hatley and seven daughters, Mrs. John F. Konkol of Amherst, Mrs. Frank Groshek and Mrs. Henry Sontag of Ringle, Mrs. Leo King and Mrs. Leo Zoromski of Hatley, Mrs. David Glisczinski of Custer and Mrs. Peter P. Check, 1313 East Briggs street, Stevens Point. Three sons preceded Mr. Yach In death. They were John B. Yach, who died in 1916, August Yach, in 1916, and Alex Yach, in 1919. Mr. Yach also leaves 66 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
