Maciej Deregowski Family – Research Summary Part 1
Hello,
I would like to summarize the records that I’ve found so far, for my 4x great grandparents Maciej Deręgowski and Wiktoria Pietrzak. Most of the records are from the Kujawy area of Poland or the surrounding areas.
The present day locations are in Gmina Piotrków Kujawski, Gmina Radziejów, and Gmina Wierzbinek (Wielkopolskie Province) all within the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Province, except where indicated. The information is derived from the listed records below:

Preface:
All of the records above came from the Piotrków Kujawski Parish, Radziejów Parish, Broniewo Parish, Mąkoszyn Parish, the Radziejów Inhabitant Registers, or the Piotrków Kujawski Inhabitant Registers. The records are taken from the LDS films, Meldunkowe section of the Genealodzy.pl website, Szukajwarchiwach.pl website, and/or the Genealogy in Archives website.
Records Summary:
Maciej Deręgowski was born in the village of Świesz (1) – Piotrków Parish, around 1814, to his parents Szymon and Helena Deręgowski nee Kolenda. Maciej was a farm owner who resided in the village of Palczewo.
Wiktoria Pietrzak was born in the village of Połajewo (2) – Połajewo Parish, around 1818, to her parents Jan and Marianna Pietrzak nee Sławińska. She resided in the village of Połajewo with her family.
Maciej, aged 22, and Wiktoria, aged 18, would marry in the village of Palczewo, on October 22nd, 1836. The couple would reside in the village of Palczewo, where Maciej would farm and where the couple would raise their family. On February 16th, 1838, the couple gave birth to a son, named Kazimierz, in the village of Palczewo. Both of the godparents may have been related to Maciej: Wojciech Kolenda and Franciszka Deręgowska. On June 15th, 1839, the couple gave birth to their second son, named Wincenty, in the village of Palczewo. Note: I cannot locate this baptismal record, but the information is listed on the Piotrków Inhabitant Register.
On August 1st, 1842, the couple gave birth to another son, his name was Wawrzyniec, in the village of Palczewo. On December 7th, 1844, the couple had their first daughter, named Marianna. On, February 26th, 1847, the couple gave birth to a daughter named Józefa. As the decade can to an end, the family included the following children: Kazimierz (aged 12), Wincenty (aged 11), Wawrzyniec (aged 8), Marianna (aged 6), and Józefa (aged 3).
On February 15th, 1850, Maciej and Wiktoria would have a daughter named Agata (Agnieszka), in the village of Palczewo. During 1852, the couple would give birth to a child and one child would pass away. On September 6th, 1852, their daughter Józefa, aged 6, would pass away. On October 26th, 1852, Tomasz Dęręgowski was born in the village of Palczewo. On May 29th, 1855, a daughter named Antonina was born. On July 7th, 1857, their son Tomasz, aged 4, would pass away in the village of Palczewo. Before the decade was over, the couple would give birth to one more child. On April 15th, 1859, Józefa was born. Unfortunately, their last child would not reach adulthood. On March 3rd, 1863, Józefa would die in the village of Palczewo.
On December 8th, 1863, Maciej Deręgowski, aged 50, died in the village of Palczewo. He left behind his wife Wiktoria and the following children: Kazimierz (aged 25), Wincenty (aged 24), Wawrzyniec (aged 21), Marianna (aged 19), Agata (aged 13), and Antonina (aged 8). Wiktoria would need to marry soon, so she could find a husband to help her raise her children that still depended on her support.
The first of Maciej and Wiktoria’s children would marry. By 1864, Wincenty, aged 25, was a farm owner residing in the village of Palczewo. He traveled to the village of Szóstka (4) – Broniewo Parish, where he would wed his first wife Antonina Mazurkiewicz. The couple were married on November 7th, 1864. The couple would reside in the village of Palczewo. His first wife would pass away in 1871 and Wincenty would marry again that year. On July 12th, 1871, Wincenty would marry Zuzanna Gorzycka. The couples place of Permanent Residence was in the village of Palczewo. The couple would work and reside in various villages of the Piotrków Parish.
Wiktoria would remarry on November 20th, 1865, to Michał Małkowski, in the village of Palczewo. Michał was a farm owner who resided in the village of Goczki (5) – Mąkoszyn Parish. Michał and Wiktoria would move their family back to Goczki, where they would farm.
The second of Maciej and Wiktoria’s children to marry was Marianna. She would marry Wojciech Wietrzykowski, on January 14th, 1867, in the village of Palczewo. Wojciech was residing in the village of Świętosławice – Brdów Parish. The couple would move to the village of Sosnowice (6) – Sadlno Parish, where they would have a child named Marcin. Wincenty Deręgowski was listed as a godparent. The couple would also work and reside in various villages of the Piotrków Parish. The couples place of Permanent Residence was in the village of Stare Radziejów, until after Wojciech’s death. On July 6th, 1873, Marianna and her surviving child Marcin would make their place of Permanent Residence in Folwark Zborowiec, house #1.
The next child of Maciej and Wiktoria to marry was Agnieszka. On August 9th, 1870, Agnieszka (Agata) married Andrzej Wiśniewski, in the village of Jeziorce (7). The couples place of Permanent Residence was in the village of Szewce (8), house #1. Andrzej would pass away on October 6th, 1886, per the Mayor of Gmina Boguszyce. Note: I cannot find any BMD records for this family – the village of Boguszyce (9) belongs to the Sadlno Parish. After Andrzej’s death, Agata would move in with her sister Antonina and have her place of Permanent Residence in Kolonia Palczewo, house #6.
Kazimierz Deręgowski would marry the widow Marianna Cywińska nee Milińska, on July 26th, 1872, in the village of Higieniewo. The couple would reside in the village of Higieniewo, where Kazimierz farmed. Kazimierz would adopt and raise Marianna’s three children from her previous marriage. The couples place of Permanent Residence was in the village of Higiniewo, house #1. The couple would continue to grow their family in this village.
On December 26th, 1878, Michał Małkowski would pass away in the village of Goczki. Wiktoria was once again a widow. Wiktoria would move back to the Piotrków area, where she would stay with her children. On December 24th, 1882, Wiktoria would marry Szczepan Opasik, in the village of Palczewo. On March 15th, 1883, Wiktoria Opasik nee Pietrzak, passed away in the village of Palczewo. She left behind her newly married husband Szczepan (who resided in the village of Świątniki (10)) and her surviving children and grandchildren.
Antonina Deręgowska married Jan Nowak, a two time widower, on April 17th, 1883, in the village of Gradowo (11) – Piotrków Parish. Antonina was aged 25 at the time. Wincenty Deręgowski was listed as a witness to the marriage. The couple would give birth to children in the villages of the Piotrków Parish. Note: I can only find records until 1885 within this parish. The couples place of Permanent Residence was in the village of Pruchonowo (12), house #5. Jan Nowak would pass away on February 21st, 1890, per the Mayor of Gmina Bytoń. After Jan’s death, Antonina would move in with her sister Agata and have her place of Permanent Residence in Kolonia Palczewo, house #6.
