Great-Great’s – 15 Out of 16 is Even Better
Hello,
I had started to write this post yesterday morning, but I had to put it on the side to finish studying for an English Literature exam that I was taking that afternoon (I had passed the exam!! :)).
I did see that Donna from What’s Past is Prologue posted a great article on SS-5 forms.
For more information about how U.S. Social Security applications can be useful (or not) for genealogy research, please read Donna’s article: SSDI: The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly, (I like the articles title, great movie reference).
Below is a picture of the SS-5 application that I had ordered and just received, by requesting it from the socialsecurity.gov website.
Stanely Andrzejczak, SS no. 387-10-7756, 02 Dec 1936, Application for Account Number (Form SS-5), Social Security Administration, Baltimore, Maryland.
Although the place of birth is listed as “Poland”, I still found some valuable information from the SS-5 form of my great grandfather Stanisław (Stanley) Andrzejczak. Stanley listed his parents, which I did not know, as Valentine (Walenty) Andrzejczak and Sophie (Sofia) Kacprzak (Verified this surname because of the ink smudge – with Siniarzewo Parish Record).
Now, I may have 15 of 16 great-great grandparents!
Best Regards,
Al
