Administrative Districts of Prussian Poland – Summary
Hello,
I have tried to encompass the majority of the administrative changes of Prusian Poland, from the Partitions of Poland to the German Empire (until the end of World War I). Hopefully, I was successful and accurate in my assessment of the Prussian administrative districts. Although I did not include Pommern (Pomerania) Schlesien (Silesia), or all of the other Prussian Provinces throughout this time span, I feel that I have provided a sound basis for describing administrative districts in Prussian Poland (West Prussia, Posen, and East Prussia).
Here are the links to each post of my Administrative Districts of Prussian Poland Series:
1) Administrative Districts of Prussian Poland – Kingdom of Prussia after the First Partition of Poland (1773-1792)
2) Administrative Districts of Prussian Poland – Kingdom of Prussia After the Second Partition of Poland (1793-1794)
3) Administrative Districts of Prussian Poland – Kingdom of Prussia after the Third Partition of Poland (1795-1806)
4) Administrative Districts of Prussian Poland – Kingdom of Prussia During the Napoleonic Wars (1807-1815)
5) Administrative Districts of Prussian Poland – Kingdom of Prussia After the Napoleonic Wars (1815-1824)
6) Administrative Districts of Prussian Poland – United Prussian States (1824-1870)
7) Administrative Districts of Prussian Poland – German Empire (1871-1877)
8) Administrative Districts of Prussian Poland – German Empire (1878-1904)
9) Administrative Districts of Prussian Poland – German Empire (1905-1918)
I have tried to provide a concise method for naming places that many of our Prussian (Polish, Prussian, Kashubian …) ancestors came from. I have research many books, maps, and websites to find the information that comprised this series. Each post listed numerous references for the information that I have provided. I hope this series was useful for providing a short history and naming conventions for most of Prussian Poland.
Best Regards,
Al
