Marriage of Walenty Pilachowski and Justyna Jakala (1824)

This is my translation of the Polish language marriage record of Walenty Pilachowski and Justyna Jakąła, from the Radziejów Parish. Any errors are completely my own.

Biskupice, 1824, No. 16,

This happened on November 14th, 1824. Before Us, the Administrator and Civil Registrar of Radziejów, performing the duties of the Registrar of Vital Records for the District of Radziejów, Radziejów County, Mazowieckie Province:

Walenty Pilachowski, aged 25, single, residing with his parents in Biskupice, the son of Jan and Marianna Pilachowski nee Karczmarek – farm owners residing in Biskupice, according to the books of the Radziejów Parish.

Justyna Jąkała, aged 25, single, the daughter of Jan and Marianna Jąkała nee Błaszak – farm owners in Piaski-Grand Duchy of Poznań, according to the records of the Radziejów District Courts.

The parties who appeared request that we proceed with the celebration of the wedding they have arranged between them, the announcement of which was published before the main doors of our District Court, that is: first on the 12th of September, and the second on the 19th of September, 1824, at 12 p.m. When we were not informed of any obstacles to the aforementioned marriage, and the parents here in attendance hereby consent, acquiescing to the aforementioned request, after reading to the parties and witnesses all the aforementioned papers and Section Six of the Civil Code regarding marriage, we asked the future husband and future wife whether they wished to join with each other in marital union, and when each of them responded separately that such is their wish, we proclaim in the name of the law that Walenty Pilachowski, single, and Justyna Jąkała, single, are joined in the bonds of matrimony.

Of which we recorded this record in the presence of: Kazimierz Małkowski, aged 60, a farm owner; Roch Jankowski, aged 40; Wojciech Malinowski, aged 36; and Paweł Jankowski, aged 38; the last two witnesses are uncles of the newlyweds and they all reside in Biskupice. This document was read aloud to the declarants and witnesses and signed by Us who can write, because those appearing and the witnesses mentioned in this document cannot write.
