Marriage of Jan Pietrasiak and Marianna Slowinska (1817)

This is my translation of the Polish language marriage record of Jan Pietrasiak and Marianna Słowińska from the Połajewo Parish. Any errors are completely my own.

Połajewo, No 5, 1817

This happened on November 16th, 1817. Before Us, Rev. Bartłomiej Borysławski, the undersigned Registrar of Vital Records of the District of Połajewo, Brześć County, Mazowieckie Province:

Jan Pietrasiak appeared, aged 27 – according to a certificate excerpted from the books of the Połajewo Parish, the son of Łukasz and Krystyna Pietrasiak,

as well as Marianna Słowińska, aged 21 – according to a certificate excerpted from the books of the Strzałkowo Parish presented by the newlyweds mothers Jadwiga Słowińska and Krystyna Pietrasiak, the daughter of Szymon and Jadwiga Słowińska.

The parties who appeared request that we proceed with the celebration of the wedding they have arranged between them, the announcement of which was published before the main doors of our District Court, that is on the 9th and 16th of November, 1817. When we were not informed of any obstacles to the aforementioned marriage, and the parents here in attendance hereby consent, acquiescing to the aforementioned request, after reading to the parties and witnesses all the aforementioned papers and Section Six of the Civil Code regarding marriage, we asked the future husband and future wife whether they wished to join with each other in marital union, and when each of them responded separately that such is their wish, we proclaim in the name of the law that Jan Pietrasiak, single, and Marianna Słowińska, single, are joined in the bonds of matrimony.

Of which we recorded this record in the presence of: Łukasz Pietrasiak, aged 60, the father of the groom, a farm owner residing in Połajewo; Jan Pietrzak, aged 45, the town mayor of Połajewo; Wojciech Pietrasiak, aged 70, a farm owner residing in Połajewo; and Paweł Szadowski, aged 53, a farm owner residing in Połajewo. This document was read aloud to the declarants and witnesses and signed by us who can write, because those appearing and the witnesses mentioned in this document cannot write.
