Tobiasz in Plebanka
Hello,
My research for the family of my 2x great grandparents, Michał and Rozalia Tobiasz nee Nowak, had come to a stop many months ago. My research summary can be found here at: Michal Tobiasz Family Research Summary – Part I
Within the research summary, I had pointed out that between 1894-1904 there was a gap in the records that I found within the Straszewo Parish. The only clue that I had was contained in the death record of Bronisław Tobiasz from 1904. My interpretation of this clue, as taken from my previous research summary, can be seen below:
Around 1897, Michał and Rozalia, may have moved to another village and parish. During this time they had a son named Bronisław. There is a gap in the records that I’ve found, from 1894-1904. On September 18, 1904, Bronisław died in the village of Zakrzewo. He was 3 years old. I’ve been having trouble translating the place of birth that is listed on his death record. As I was writing this post, I tried to decipher the village name again. I’m not sure about the first letter, but the rest of the village name is “?”lebank. There is a village named “Plebanka” (5) which is north of Straszewo, in the Ostrowąs Parish. There is another Plebanka located to the east, belonging to the Nieszawa Parish. The first letter doesn’t look like a Russian “P” though, but this lead is worth a try.
Recently, I had ordered the death records of the Ostrowąs Parish that is located near the Straszewo Parish. Today, I was able to view these records at my local Family History Center (FHC). During my search through the film, I was able to find two death records for children of Michał and Rozalia. Both records were from the village of Plebanka!! The family must have traveled back and forth between the villages of Zakrzewo and Plebanka. My interpretation of Bronsław’s death record was accurate. But unfortunately, the LDS does have the years filmed for the baptisms between 1890-1904. The Włocławek Archives do have these years available. So, I do have options….
I will translate the two deaths records and post them online in the near future. Then, I will post my second research summary for the family of Michał and Rozalia Tobiasz nee Nowak. Finding an old death record has never seemed so exciting….
Best Regards,
Al
