Wierzba Collection – UWM Digital Archives
Hello,
Another of the UW-Milwaukee’s collections that were discussed at the Polish Institute of Arts & Sciences of America’s annual conference, that was held in Milwaukee earlier this month, was the Dennis Wierzba Collection.
During the years between 1941-1957, Dennis Wierzba, a photography hobbyist, took many pictures of Milwaukee’s Polonia. The photographs include residential and business photographs, and various other social events from Milwaukee’s Polonia (UWM Digital Collections, Finding Aid of the Dennis Wierzba Negatives, (1941-1957), 2010).
The Dennis Wierzba Collection contains 194 images (UWM Digital Collections, Finding Aid of the Dennis Wierzba Negatives, (1941-1957), 2010). This collection is a great continuation of the Roman Kwasniewski Collection. The photographs of Milwaukee’s Polonia picks up where the Roman Kwasniewski Collection leaves off. The available images can be found here: Dennis Wierzba Collection.
Greater detail about the Dennis Wierzba Collection can be found here: Finding Aid of the Dennis Wierzba Negatives (1941-1957)
In case you may be wondering, Dennis Wierzba is a family relation. We both share a connection: my 3x great grandparents, Bartlomiej Wierzba and Rozalia Knopik.
Best Regards,
Al
