Research Updates and Plan of Action
Hello,
Have you ever been making some substantial progress in your personal genealogical research and then had to shelf everything because of unforeseen time restraints? This is exactly what happened to me back in March of this year. I was right in the middle of quite a few projects, a number of family research leads, and new discoveries when life seemed to put a halt to all my momentum. In an attempt to gather my thoughts and notes regarding where I’ve left off, I’d like to share my research tasks that I need to complete in the upcoming months. In future posts I will expand on most of these tasks in greater detail. This post should serve as a high level overview, with just enough information to understand the task and where I had left off.
Personal Research Projects:
- Włocławek Archives Research Request – In February, I had contacted Iwona Dakiniewicz and hired her to search through the Włocławek Archives in Poland to find specific records of my Tobiasz, Pluskota, and Kacprzak families. The results were excellent. I will share more information in numerous upcoming posts…
- Słownik Translations – With all of the new information that Iwona found, I want to translate slownik entries that correspond with the Włocławek Archives Research Request. This includes Koscielna Wieś, Lubanie, Bronisław, Krzywosądz, and others…
- Research summaries for my Tobiasz ancestries.
- Translate and/or Transliterate documents that have been acquired through research.
- Email Organization – I have many emails that I need to sort through, this includes responding to some pending correspondence.
Public Research Projects:
- PGSA Słownik Translations – Continue extracting the Słownik entries from past PGSA publications and format them for proper upload to the PGSA website’s Słownik database.
- Share website links and research that may be helpful to other Polish genealogy researchers. Including summaries of Polish articles and transcription updates.
- PGSA Collaboration – Possibly (if time permits) become more actively involved in the PGSA.
- Submit Research Articles for Publications – Recently, I had submitted an article titled, Birthplace Index from Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Polonia, WI, Marriage Records to the Stevens Point Area Genealogical Society. This article was published in Pedigree Pointers, Vol. 33 ,No. 3, Spring 2011 edition. Also in a collaboration with William F. Hoffman, two of my Słownik Translations (Krajna and Krajniacy) were published in the current edition of the PGSA’s journal, Rodziny, Spring 2011, Vol. 34, No. 2. Potentially, submit other articles for publication into genealogical society newsletters.
Family Research Leads:
- Continue to collaborate and share research and information with fellow family researchers. The following ancestry lines have communication lines open and must be expanded on: Wierzba (Portage and Milwaukee Counties), Machajewski, Krzymianowski, and Kobs. This includes various branches of these families.
This was a high level overview of where I had left off and where I need to restart my genealogical efforts. Now it’s time to complete these tasks. Wish me good luck. More to come…
…until next time.
Best Regards,
Al
