Project in Portage County, Wisconsin

Hello,

I’d like to share an article that was posted on the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel website  yesterday evening. The article was written by Bill Glauber and is titled Barnstorming Portage County (click the title to read the article). The article announces a project that was undertaken by a group of volunteers that photographed all of the barns in Portage County, Wisconsin. The group of volunteers photographed over 1,500 barns.

Personally, I cannot wait to see how the photos and the project come together. Many of the barns that were photographed will have been once occupied by many of my ancestors. My Jach, Wierzba, and Eckendorf families all owned farms throughout Portage County. It would be great to learn more about the history of each farm and their associated barns.

I am highly anticipating and eagerly awaiting the release of this project and its corresponding website to the public.
