Kobs Family Residences – 1880 Milwaukee

I have gone through the 1880 US Census and recorded the information for the Kobs families that arrived in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, during the 1870’s. They left from the villages of Blękwit, Swięta, and Stawnica, of the Złotów Parish. The information of each family is listed below:
Frank and Balbina Glisch (nee Kobs) Residence – 671 First Avenue – Ward 11 District 136

- Balbina Glisch – wife, age 37, keeping house, born in Prussia
- John Glisch – son, age 14, works in cigar factory, born in Prussia

- Kate Glisch – daughter, age 6, born in Wisconsin
- Joseph Glisch – son, age 2, born in Wisconsin

Paul and Rosalia Kobs (nee Grochowska) Residence – 867 Third Avenue – Ward 11 District 136

Below is a screen shot of Ward 11 of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in 1880. I have added arrows that point to the vicinity of the residences of the Kobs families living in the area at this time. The arrows are rough estimates and should not be considered 100% accurate.
The main point of this post is to show how close the families lived near each other. The Glisch family arrived first in 1870 and then Paul and John Kobs arrived together in 1871. The John Malek and Otyllia Kobs both arrived in Milwaukee, in between 1876-1878. All of the families came from the Złotow Parish and chose to live in proximity of each other.
I may continue creating posts similar to this for my other ancestors and for other dates.
