More Genealogy Books
Hello,
I had ordered and received four new books for my genealogy research. One is a translation guide, another is a Polish-English-Polish dictionary, and two of them deal with Kashubian-North American history and research. The books are as follows:
1) Following the Paper Trail: A Multilingual Translation Guide written by: Jonathan D. Shea and William F. Hoffman
Excellent guide to translating records in many different languages. I can’t wait for the next two additions to the “In their own Words” series.
2) Langenscheidt Polish Dictionary: Polish – English English – Polish (Langenscheidt’s Pocket Dictionary) written by: Langenscheidt
This is an extremly helpful dictionary. I tend to use this when google translator or poltran don’t recognize a word in Polish.
3) Kashubia to Canada- Crossing on the Agda written by: Shirley Mask Connolly
The research that Shirley put into this book is breath taking. The history about Kashubia and then Renfrew County, Canada is greatly detailed. This book deals with the Kashubian families that lived in the Lipusz Parish, along with near by parishes, that arrived in Canada onboard the passenger ship Agda. If you have ancestors from this area of Kashubia, this book is a definite must have! This can be ordered through the Wilno Heritage Society’s website: http://www.wilno.org/articles/books.html
4) Saga of the Kashub People wriiten by: Aloysius J. Rekowski
This is another outstanding book. This book deals with the families that came from lower Kashubia and settled in Canada and the USA. This book covers the history of Kashubia and then each settlement in North America. Once again, if you have family that came from the parishes located in lower Kashubia, this book is a must! This can be ordered through the Wilno Heritage Society’s website: http://www.wilno.org/articles/books.html
Best Regards,
Al.
