1) In documents as Ostrowąsz, a village and folwark (manor) located in powiat Nieszawa and gmina Straszewo. The village of Ostrowąs belongs to the Ostrowąs Parish. It lies on Lake Ostrowąs, on the lofty and treeless shores. The brick parish church is here. The village has 198 inhabitants and the folwark has 86 inhabitants. The peasant land has 777 mórg and the folwark has 517 mórg. In 1827, there were 21 houses with 208 inhabitants.
According to tax collection registers from the Inowrocław Province in 1583, the Ostrowąsz village church belonged to the monks in Płock. It had 20 serf fields, 3 village executives (heads), 3 castles, and 4 sheriffs (or possibly 4 tenant farmers). The parish consisted of the villages: Ostrowąs, Brzeżno, Słomkowo, Brudnowo, Kroszyno Małe, and Kroszyno Wiełkie (Pawiński, Wielk., I, 250).
The present brick church was erected in 1863 and was funded by the parishioners, mainly the peasants. The Ostrowąs Parish belongs to the Nieszawa Deanery and has 1170 souls.
