Milwaukee Kashub-American Heritage Article

I’d like to share an article that was posted on OnMilwaukee.com’s website (onmilwaukee.com). The article is about Milwaukee’s Kashubian population that lived on Jones Island. The article gives some history about Jones Island and the Kashubian region of Poland.

Here are some points to keep in mind while reading the article:
- The Kashubian region of Poland stretches to the south, all the way to Chojnice.
- The southern area of the Kashubian region of Poland is mostly farm land and many lakes.
- Many of Milwaukee’s Kashubs came from the southern area of Poland and resided in Milwaukee on the far south side and the east side.
- Other Kashubian immigrants settled in the Stevens Point area of Wisconsin; Pulaski, Wisconsin; Wiona, Minnesota; among other places….
