Surname Saturday – Szutenberg

This week will be focused on the Szutenberg surname.  The origin of this surname name is German or Jewish, but the Szutenberg ethnicity located in Poland seems to have become Polish or Kaszubian through the years. I have also seen the Szutenberg surname spelled as Schuttenberg in many Prussian Poland church records.

Surname Meaning: Szutenberg –  derived from the root word “szuty”, which means hornless. Or derived from the German root word “Schutt”, which means rubbish or rubble.
