Week 1 – Polish I Class
Hello,
As I stated in my 2010 goals, I had enrolled in a Polish I class that is taught by Professor Mikos of UW-Milwaukee. The class is taught at the Polish Center of Wisconsin. As of last night, the first week of Polish I class is in the books. We learned the phonetics of the Polish language and their proper pronunciations. We also covered the rules of Polish pronunciations, such as “sz” is pronounced as “s” in the word “ship”. Professor Mikos had assigned homework for the week, which included the studying of the material covered in class and the practice of the pronunciations of a handout of selected words (30-40 words).
Overall, the class went well. I believe I am getting the hang of the proper pronunciations, but I’ll need to practice this week. This is a 10-week class, so I will share more each week. More to come….
Best Regards,
Al
