Marriage of Szczepan Fortuniak and Antonina Pluskota (1821)

This is my translation of the Polish language marriage record of Szczepan Fortuniak and Antonina Pluskota, from the Broniewo Parish. Any errors are completely my own.

Szóstka, No.7, 1821

This happened on November 25th, 1821. Before Us, the undersigned Registrar of Vital Records of the District of Broniewo, Radziejów County, Mazowieckie Province.

Szczepan Fortuniak appeared, single, aged 27, according to a certificate excerpted from the books of the Stodoły Parish, which was presented to the Radziejów Courts, he is a farmhand residing in Szóstka, with the assistance of his mother Ełżbieta Fortuniak – who resides in the village of Stodoły, Grand Duchy of Poznań,

as well as Antonina Pluskota, single, aged 23, according to a certificate excerpted from the books of the Broniewo Parish, she resides with her family, her parents are Paweł and Rozalia Pluskota – who are farmer owners residing in the village of Szóstka.

The parties who appeared request that we proceed with the celebration of the wedding they have arranged between them, the announcement of which was published before the main doors of our District Court, that is: first on the 11th of November, and the second on the 18th of November, 1821, at 12 p.m. When we were not informed of any obstacles to the aforementioned marriage, and the parents here in attendance hereby consent, acquiescing to the aforementioned request, after reading to the parties and witnesses all the aforementioned papers and Section Six of the Civil Code regarding marriage, we asked the future husband and future wife whether they wished to join with each other in marital union, and when each of them responded separately that such is their wish, we proclaim in the name of the law that Szczepan Fortuniak, single, and Antonina Pluskota, single, are joined in the bonds of matrimony.

Of which we recorded this record in the presence of: Jakób Sobieraj, aged 40; Grzegorz Sobieraj, aged 43; Antoni Patyk, aged 37, all of the previously mentioned are farm owners; and Tomasz Błaszak, aged 33, an innkeeper, all of the mentioned reside in Szóstka. This document was read aloud to the declarants and witnesses and signed by us who can write, because those appearing and the witnesses mentioned in this document cannot write.
