Jozef Bielawski Family – Research Summary Part II

I would like to summarize the records that I’ve found so far, for my 3x great grandparents Józef Bielawski and Marianna Grzybowska from the Kujawy area of Poland or the surrounding areas.

The present day locations are in Gmina Orchowo (Wielkopolskie Province), Gmina Bytoń and Gmina Piotrków, all within the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Province, except where indicated. The information is derived from the listed records below.

All of the records above came from the Orchowo Parish, Piotrków Kujawski Parish, Bytoń Parish, Sędzin Parish or the Sędzin Inhabitant Registers. The records are taken from the LDS films, Meldunkowe section of the Genealodzy.pl website, Szukajwarchiwach.pl website, and/or the Genealogy in Archives website.

Records Summary:

Józef Bielawski was born in the village of Linowiec (1), on April 16, 1825, to his parents Filip Bielawski and Agata Pakuła. Józef and his family would remain residents of Linowiec throughout his childhood and into his adulthood.

Marianna Grzybowska was born around 1825, in the village of Witaszyce (2) – Witaszyce Parish (Gmina Jarocin, Powiat Jarocin, Wielkopolskie). She was the daughter of Joachim Grzybowski and Marcianna Śliwińska. By 1829, both Marianna’s parents had passed away. Marianna would be raised by her remaining family.

On October 30, 1849, in the village of Linowiec, Józef Bielawski married Marianna Grzybowska. Józef and Marianna were both working as a laborers and living in Linowiec. One of the witnesses to the wedding was Leo Bielawski, who was a blacksmith (further investigation is needed to determine his relationship).

The couple would give birth to their first child on July 20, 1850. The child was named Ignacy. One of the godparents listed for Ignacy’s baptism was Józefa Bielawska. I would assume that Józefa was an aunt, but I do not know for sure if she was Józef’s sister or sister-in-law or even an aunt of Józef (further digging is required).

On March 14, 1853, the family would add another son, named Józef. The following year, on April 19, 1854, the couple gave birth to their third child. The child was given the name Wojciech. Józef was listed as working as a guard in Linowiec.

A couple years later, on August 12, 1856, the family had another child. This time the child was a daughter named Rozalia, who was my 2x great grandmother. The godparents were listed as Leo Bielawski and Józefa Imielska. Józef was listed as a steward for his occupation.

Sometime between 1856 – 1862, the couple would move their family to Niegibalice (3) – Bytoń Parish. Note: The first record of the family within the Bytoń Parish occurred in 1862. The couple must have resided in another parish along the route to Niegibalice, but I have not found this parish yet. Assumption: Around 1858, the couple would give birth to a son named Antoni. Note: Antoni is listed as the godfather of a child of his father Józef and a child of his sister Michalina.

On January 12th, 1862, the couple gave birth to a daughter, named Teodozja, in the village of Niegibalice. Józef was listed as a steward for his occupation. On March 19th, 1863, Teodozja passed away in the village of Niegibalice. Note: There is a gap between records from 1863-1867. Assumption: In the beginning of 1867, the couple gave birth to daughter, named Weronika. The page that the record (#10) is missing for this year on the Genealogy in Archives website. It’s possible that the LDS films contain the record.

Note: Many years pass between records of the Bielawski family in the Bytoń Parish. From 1867-1878, no other records are found. Either they also worked and resided in another parish or the couple were done growing their family.

On August 20th, 1878, Wojciech Bielawski would marry Józefa Rosowska, in the village of Dębołęka (4) – Piotrków Parish. The couple would have children and raise their family in various villages of the following parishes: Bytoń, Piotrków, Radziejów, Połajewo, Chodecz, Zgłowiączka and Orle. Assumption: The family’s Place of Permanent Residence was in the village of Niegibalice.

The couple oldest son, Ignacy, would marry Marianna Kurkiewicz, on October 22nd, 1878, in the village of Niegibalice. Ignacy worked as an attendant. The couple would have one child in Niegibalice, before moving out of the Bytoń Parish. After 1879, I can no longer find this family. Assumption: The family’s Place of Permanent Residence was in the village of Niegibalice.

On December 13th, 1878, Marianna Bielawska nee Grzybowska, passed away in the village of Niegibalice. She left behind her husband Józef and her children. The two witnesses that reported her death were her son Ignacy and her husband Józef.

On November 10th, 1879, Józef, aged 52, would marry Michalina Bodzianowska nee Nowakowska, aged 26, a widow, in the village of Niegibalice. The couple would have a child, named Jan, on September 28th, 1881, in the village of Niegibalice. Józef’s son Antoni was listed as the godfather.

Rozalia Bielawska would marry Paweł Pluskota, on October 20th, 1881, in the Sędzin Folwark (5) – Sędzin Parish. Rozalia and Paweł would work and reside in various parishes: Sędzin, Straszewo. Służewo, and Siniarzewo. The family’s Place of Permanent Residence was in the village of Sędzin, house #11. Note: Antoni Bielawski was listed as the godfather of Wincenty Pluskota in the village of Sędzin – 1883.

On August 15th, 1884, Józef and Michalina would have a son, named Feliks, in the village of Niegibalice. Józef was a gardener at the time. The couple would reside in the village of Niegibalice until Józef’s untimely deaths in 1887. On April 10th, 1887, Józef passed away in the village of Niegibalice. He was followed shortly by his widow Michalina. On November 17th, 1887, in the village of Dębołęka, Michalina passed away.

As I find more records of Józef and his family, I will add updates.
