Kujawy (II) – Slownik Geograficzny Translations
Hello,
Below is my translation of the Słownik Geograficzny Krolestwa Polskiego entry for the Kujawy. This is an entry about the governorships of the Principality of Kujawy. Any errors in the translations are completely my own.
Kujawy,
The land of Kujawy (Cuiavia) occurs in the document Innocentego II for the churches of Gnieźno, from the year 1136. The Kujawy Principality is in documents from the year 1145. The Wojewoda (Governor) of Kujawy and Castellan of Kruszwica Piotr Magnus (Wszeborowicz), the son of Wszebor (also known as Szabor), is in the record of Mieszko III the Old (Mieszko III Stary) (undated). In documents, the second Wojewoda was listed as Heinricus. From the early XIII century, the Wojewoda was Konrad the Prince of Kujawy and in 1232 it was Krzesław. At that time it was listed as Chritinus (maybe the same as Krzesław). In 1236 and 1238 it was Janusz, then Boguss (1254), Mathias (1268-1273), Lupus (1282), Bronissus (1306), Stanislaus (1307), Miclo (1314), Johannes (1315), Albertus (1346-1368), Wladko (1391), Creslaus (1394-1401) (K.W., n. 7, 33, 125, 140, 211 and others, likewise Kod. dypl. pol., II). See Pawiński, Adolf: “This Kujawy land and historical records for them”, Part I, Volume I. Government assemblies, Vol. II, III, IV, and V, relating to the townspeople and instructions of the assemblies of Kujawy from 1572 to 1674. (Warszawa 1888).
