The Villages South of Straszewo and Siniarzewo–Tobiasz Ancestral Research
The article below is a continuation from the previous article called The Random Movements of my Tobiasz Ancestors during the 1800’s…
With the help of Iwona Dakiniewicz, I was able to piece together the overall movements of my Tobiasz ancestors. Iwona was able to research the Włocławek Archives and its extensive archival materials. Iwona had access to all of the parish records that are available for the entire area surrounding the villages of Straszewo and Siniarzewo. One day I’d like to be able to research these archives in person…I plan on it…
During Iwona’s research, she was able to locate my Tobiasz ancestors within the parishes of Bądkowo, Kościelna Wieś, and Byczyna. The records that were found serve to fill the gaps within my own research. My Tobiasz ancestors seemed to have left the Góra Parish (just southeast of Inowrocław) and then moved along to the villages of Krotoszyn (Kościelna Wieś Parish), Bądkowo (Bądkowo Parish), and Adolfin (Byczyna Parish). Afterward, the various members of the Tobiasz family spread out toward the parishes of Sinairzewo, Koneck, Łowiczek, and Straszewo. This was the area that I had yet to have looked, south of the Straszewo-Siniarzewo-Łowiczek Parishes.
Although Iwona provided translations of each record that she found, I will make translations attempts of my own and post them on this blog. With the additional information contained in the records that Iwona found, I should be able to create a more definitive story about my Tobiasz family. Also, based on the information that is contained in these records I can expand my research for other Tobiasz BMD records. As it looks, my Tobiasz ancestors were migrant farm workers. I’m glad to say that my great-grandfather Jan Tobiasz broke this mold and immigrated to the United States of America.
I would like to recommend Iwona Dakiniewicz as a valuable resource for in-Poland research. Iwona was punctual and detailed with her results and summaries. For more information, please visit Iwona’s website (click the hyperlink associated with her name).
In upcoming posts, I will translate the Tobiasz BMD records and then provide a records summary.
Best Regards,
