Marriage of Tomasz Pakuła and Katarzyna Świerk nee Kędzia (1814)

This is my translation of the Polish language marriage record of Tomasz Pakuła and Katarzyna Świerk nee Kędzia, from the Lisków Parish. Any errors are completely my own.

Lisków, 1814, No. 8

This happened on January 17th, 1814, at 9 a.m. Before Us, Rev. Józef Kłyciński, the undersigned Registrar of Vital Records of the District of Lisków, Kalisz County, Kalisz Province:

Tomasz Pakuła, aged 36, single, residing with his brother in Lisków, house #62, according to a certificate excerpted from the books of the Lisków Parish, appearing with his brother Paweł Pakuła, aged 46, who resides in the village of Lisków, house #62, and his cousin Kazimierz Pakuła, aged 36, a farm owner residing in the village of Żychów, house #16.

Katarzyna Świerk nee Kędzia, aged 36, a widow, residing in Żychów, house #20, according to a certificate excerpted from the books of the Lisków Parish, appearing with Józef Olkiewicz, aged 39, a farm owner in Żychów, house #22, a close neighbor of the bride, and Błażej Kędzia, aged 46, a farmer residing in Lisków, house #36, cousin of the bride.

The parties who appeared request that we proceed with the celebration of the wedding they have arranged between them, the announcement of which was published before the main doors of our District Court, that is: first on the 2nd of January, and the second on the 9th of January, 1814, at 12 p.m. When we were not informed of any obstacles to the aforementioned marriage, and the parents here in attendance hereby consent, acquiescing to the aforementioned request, after reading to the parties and witnesses all the aforementioned papers and Section Six of the Civil Code regarding marriage, we asked the future husband and future wife whether they wished to join with each other in marital union, and when each of them responded separately that such is their wish, we proclaim in the name of the law that Tomasz Pakuła, single, from Lisków, and Katarzyna Świerk, a widow, from Żychów, are joined in the bonds of matrimony.

Of which we recorded this record in the presence of: Paweł Pakuła, aged 46, a farm owner residing in Lisków, in house #62, brother of the groom; Kazimierz Pakuła, aged 36, a farm owner residing in Żychów, house #16, cousin of the groom; along with the following witnesses for the bride: Józef Olkiewicz, aged 39, a farm owner in Żychów, house #22, a close neighbor of the bride; and Błażej Kędzia, aged 46, a farmer residing in Lisków, house #36, cousin of the bride. This document was read aloud to the declarants and witnesses and signed by Us who can write, because those appearing and the witnesses mentioned in this document cannot write.
