Marriage of Wojciech Szeligowski and Jadwiga Konopa (1823)

This is my translation of the Polish language marriage record of Wojciech Szeligowski and Jadwiga Konopa, from the Radziejów Parish. Any errors are completely my own.

Miasto Radziejów, 1823, No. 15,

This happened on October 19th, 1823. Before Us, the Administrator and Civil Registrar of Radziejów, performing the duties of the Registrar of Vital Records for the District of Radziejów, Radziejów County, Mazowieckie Province:

Józef Jędrzejewski, appearing with the newlyweds:

Wojciech Szeligowski, aged 26, single, a farmhand residing in Radziejów, the son of Maciej and Franciszka Szeliga alias Szeligowski nee Keczłera??? – farm owners residing in Sławsko? – Powiat Inowrocław – Grand Duchy of Poznań, according to the books of the Strzelno Parish.

Jadwiga Konopa, aged 23, single, an attendant residing in Radziejów, the daughter of Wawrzyniec and Józefata Konopa – laborers residing in Radziejów, according to the books of the Bytoń Parish.

The parties who appeared request that we proceed with the celebration of the wedding they have arranged between them, the announcement of which was published before the main doors of our District Court, that is: first on the 5th of October, and the second on the 12th of October, 1823, at 12 p.m. When we were not informed of any obstacles to the aforementioned marriage, and the parents here in attendance hereby consent, acquiescing to the aforementioned request, after reading to the parties and witnesses all the aforementioned papers and Section Six of the Civil Code regarding marriage, we asked the future husband and future wife whether they wished to join with each other in marital union, and when each of them responded separately that such is their wish, we proclaim in the name of the law that Wojciech Szeligowski, single, and Jadwiga Konopa, single, are joined in the bonds of matrimony.

Of which we recorded this record in the presence of: Roch Cieślik, aged 46, a farm owner residing in Kolonia Radziejów; Mikołaj Paczkowski, aged 24, an apprentice cobbler; Łukasz Czerwiński, aged 24, an apprentice cobbler; and Jakub Mroszewski, aged 45, a master cobbler, all residing in Radziejów. This document was read aloud to the declarants and witnesses and signed by Us who can write, because those appearing and the witnesses mentioned in this document cannot write.
