Marriage of Błażej Świątczak and Magdalena Słowińska (1813)

This is my translation of the Polish language marriage record of Błażej Świątczak and Magdalena Słowińska from the Połajewo Parish. Any errors are completely my own.

Połajewek, No 1, 1813

This happened on September 20th, 1813. Before Us, Rev. Bartłomiej Borysławski, the undersigned Registrar of Vital Records of the District of Połajewo, Brześć County, Bydzgoszcz Province:

Błażej Świątczak, aged 31 – according to a certificate excerpted from the books of the Połajewo Parish, the son of Józef and Katarzyna Świątczak,

as well as Magdalena Słowińska, aged 21 – according to a certificate excerpted from the books of the Rzeczyca Parish, the daughter of Szymon and Jadwiga Słowiński.

The parties who appeared request that we proceed with the celebration of the wedding they have arranged between them, the announcement of which was published before the main doors of our District Court, that is on the 31st of August and the 7th of September, 1813, at 12 p.m. When we were not informed of any obstacles to the aforementioned marriage, and the parents here in attendance hereby consent, acquiescing to the aforementioned request, after reading to the parties and witnesses all the aforementioned papers and Section Six of the Civil Code regarding marriage, we asked the future husband and future wife whether they wished to join with each other in marital union, and when each of them responded separately that such is their wish, we proclaim in the name of the law that Błażej Świątczak and Magdalena Śłowińska, are joined in the bonds of matrimony.

Of which we recorded this record in the presence of: Józef Świątczak, aged 75, the father of the groom, residing in Połajewek; Józef Baranowski, aged 63, a farm owner residing in Połajewo; Szymon Słowiński, aged 53, the father of the bride, a master blacksmith, residing in Rzeczyca; and Wawrzyniec Baranowski, aged 43, a farm owner, residing in Połajewek. This document was read aloud to the declarants and witnesses and signed by us who can write, because those appearing and the witnesses mentioned in this document cannot write.
