Milwaukee Polonia Collection – Initial findings are successful
Hello,
In my last post, I had noted the new collection that was unveiled online by UW-Milwaukee this weekend called Milwaukee Polonia: (http://uwm.edu/mkepolonia/). The collection contains photographs taken by Roman Kwasniewski from the early 1900s through the 1940s. There are over 32,000 photographs in the collection. This is an outstanding amount of material that can be used for both Milwaukee history and genealogy research.
Yesterday, I gave the collection a cursory search and I was pleasantly surprised by the photo I had found. The photograph below was a family portrait taken by Mr. Kwasniewski in 1921 of my Great Grandparents and family. This is priceless material. Definitely amazing….
Stanisław Andrzejczak (Jędrzejczak) Family Portrait 1921
Andrzejczak, Mr. St. / 773 American Ave. (1921). Group portrait family. Retrieved June 14, 2014, from http://collections.lib.uwm.edu/cdm/singleitem/collection/mke-polonia/id/13343/rec/1
I highly suggest searching through the collection if you had any ancestors living in Milwaukee between the early 1900s through the 1940s. You might get lucky like I did.
Happy Hunting,
Al
