Milwaukee County and then Portage County
In previous posts, I stated that Vincent and Victoria Wierzba moved with the three other Wierzba families in June 1872 to Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Then after staying a year Vincent and family bought land to farm in Sharon, Portage, Wisconsin. According to the obituary of Mary Wojak nee Wierzba, Vincent and family stayed in Milwaukee before moving to Portage County. Besides this obituary sentence, I did not have solid evidence.
Also, the members of Vincent’s family who left Tuszkowy and arrived in America were: Vincent 34, Victoria 28, Vincent 6, Marianna 3, and Pauline 9 months old. All of these family members can be tracked to Sharon, Portage, Wisconsin after arriving in America, except Pauline. I thought that Pauline must have died during the journey from New York to Wisconsin, but I did not know where.
Below is the answer to both of my queries:
This is Pauline Wierzba’s death record from St. Stanislaus Parish, Milwaukee, WI. On September 10, 1872, Pauline, the daughter of Vincent and Victoria Wierzba nee Zywicki, died at age 1 1/4 years old in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
They must have stayed in Milwaukee until they moved to Sharon around September 1873, Michael Wierzba was baptized at Sacred Heart Church in Polonia, Portage, Wisconsin. Hopefully, I’ll be able to find Vincent and family somewhere in the Milwaukee City Directories 1872/73.
