Marriage of Mateusz Woźniak and Marianna Tobiasz (1849)

This is my translation of the Polish language marriage record of Mateusz Woźniak and Marianna Tobiasz (my 3x great-grand aunt), from the Krzywosądz Parish. Any errors are completely my own.

Smarglin No 3 1849

This happened in village of Krzywosądz on the 9th of September, 1849, at 8 a.m. We declare in the presence of Mateusz Bukowski, a laborer, resident of Smarglin, aged 32, and Ignacy Tobiasz, a farmer, resident of Bądkowo, aged 28, that on this day a religious marital union was contracted between:

Mateusz Woźniak, a widower (his wife Marianna Woźniak died in Smarglin, on August 10, 1849) a farmer, resident of Smarglin, the son of Andrzej and Rozalia Woźniak, aged 30,

and Marianna Tobiasz, a young woman, attendant in Smarglin, daughter of Stanisław and the late Agnieszka Tobiasz, born in Srubsk in the Kingdom of Prussia, aged 24.

The wedding was preceded by three readings of the banns on the 12th, 19th, and 26th of August, 1849, at the parish church of Krzywosądz and the groom’s father’s oral consent. No impediments arose and the newlyweds stated that they had made no prenuptial agreement between them. This document was read aloud to the declarants and witnesses and signed by us who can write, because those appearing and the witnesses mentioned in this document cannot write.
