Marriage of Mateusz Kolenda and Salomea Stramińska (1812)
Hello,
This is my translation of the Polish language marriage record of Mateusz Kolenda and Salomea Stramińska, from the Bytoń Parish. Any errors are completely my own.
Świesz, 1812, No. 5,
This happened on November 16th, 1812. before Us, the Administrator and Civil Registrar of Bytoń, performing the duties of the Registrar of Vital Records for the District of Bytoń, Brześć County, Bydgoszcz Province:
Mateusz Kolenda, aged 23, residing in Świesz – according to a certificate excerpted from the books of the Kaczewo Parish, appearing with his father Mateusz, a farm owner residing in Świesz, and his mother Małgorzata.
Salomea Stramińska, aged 19, single, residing in Świesz – according to a certificate excerpted from the books of the Bytoń Parish, appearing with her parents Wawrzyniec and Domicella Stramiński – who reside in Świesz.
The parties who appeared request that we proceed with the celebration of the wedding they have arranged between them, the announcement of which was published before the main doors of our District Court, that is: first on the 4th of November, and the second on the 11th of November, 1812. When we were not informed of any obstacles to the aforementioned marriage, and the parents here in attendance hereby consent, acquiescing to the aforementioned request, after reading to the parties and witnesses all the aforementioned papers and Section Six of the Civil Code regarding marriage, we asked the future husband and future wife whether they wished to join with each other in marital union, and when each of them responded separately that such is their wish, we proclaim in the name of the law that Mateusz Kolenda and Salomea Stramińska are joined in the bonds of matrimony.
Of which we recorded this record in the presence of: Michał Maciejewski, aged 45, a shepherd; Mateusz Kolenda, aged 50, the father of the groom; Piotr Pankiewicz, aged 50, a steward; and Wawrzyniec Stramiński, aged 51, the father of the bride; all witnesses resided in Świesz. This document was read aloud to the declarants and witnesses and signed by Us who can write, because those appearing and the witnesses mentioned in this document cannot write.
Rev. Ignacy Krantz, Pastor of the Bytoń Parish and Civil Registrar.
